On October 17, 2017, NFL team owners and players met with commissioner Roger Goodell for their regular Fall league meeting at the Conrad Hotel in lower Manhattan.
At the top of their agenda was discussing whether or not players would be allowed to continue kneeling on the field during the press-game National Anthem to protest police brutality, white supremacy, mass incarceration and the killing of unarmed black teens at the hands of the police.
Demonstrators gathered outside of the meeting to stand in solidarity with the rotesting players and speak out against racism and white supremacy.
It was decided during the meeting that the players would be allowed to continue their protests, marking a win for free speech and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Below is a selection of photos taken during the demonstration outside of the Conrad Hotel.
